Worship?

Theologians postulate but have not discovered much other than their own particular
prejudice which they intended prior to any Biblical search. Many use ‘proof texts’
to present their notions and others appeal to reason or logic which seems good to
them, but few take advantage of “revelation”! Considering all the New Testament
scriptures, one can arrive at truth regarding Christian worship. The doctrine of
Christ and the Apostles is clearly revealed to those who are spiritual and willing to
pray for wisdom (James 1:5). Doing less will result in strife and division so let’s be
very humble and gentle while opening the Word of God with each other. As to the
order of worship we can agree upon the items, but the order is apparently optional -
so let’s discover together the items. Where is communion or the breaking of wine
commanded? (1 Corinthians 11) Where is meeting together commanded? (Hebrews
10:24-25) Is singing part of Christian worship? (Colossians 3:16 & Ephesians 5:19)
Does it also seem to everyone, given the book of Acts that preaching and teaching
are apparent (Acts 20:7ff)? how foolish are we if we speculate regarding order and
neglect the clear commands of our Lord to encourage one another and teach one
another? If ministry to widows, orphans, each other, and evangelism are not critical
commands then what is the function of the church? Are we not responsible to make
known the “manifold wisdom of God”? This is our mission and our fellowship is
where motivation for that mission begins in the heart of the believer. Repeating all
these things on a regular and even weekly basis inspires true believers to want to
share God’s goodness. Being encouraged by apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors,
and teachers is exactly what we need to grow up in Christ. To think that worship
cannot be described or defined is contrary to God who leaves no one in darkness
who would see the light. Therefore, let us search the scriptures daily in order to
become noble like the Bereans.
