Sound in the Faith, or False

Some who would never be believed are able to deceive even the elect, the
whole fellowship, because they claim to have “a word from the Lord”.
Indeed, without that claim they would have no audience, no funding, and
no fame. They would be recognized as charlatans, labeled, and shunned.
Yet, because of that claim to have special knowledge, “a word from the
Lord”, they are able to sell tapes, books, and tokens for folding money.
Deceiving and being deceived is their life scheme. “They profess that they
know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and
disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate” (Titus 1:16). The
faithful community must be diligent as it compares their word to his Word
and their works to the behavior of our Lord. His was not a life of glitz and
glitter, but as you know of sacrifice and service. He was born in poverty,
lived serving the poor, and was buried in a donated cave. Our Lord did not
enjoy the comforts of this world or it’s infamy, but was defamed, beaten,
and suffered as an outcast. False prophets these days are described by Paul
(Titus 1) as liars, evil beasts, and gluttons. He continues to say that the
sinners of this world know they are fake (Titus 1:12-13). They have turned
from the truth as they deny the blood of Jesus, the love of God, and the
grace of the Holy Spirit. To the sound in the faith, the pure in heart, all
things are pure, but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing
sacred; but even their mind and conscience is defiled (Titus 1:15). These
false teachers are concerned more with their image than living in our
Lord’s shadow as suffering servants. Their mouths must be stopped
according to Paul (Titus 1:11) because they subvert or overthrow whole
families, teaching things which they should not – things that contradict
scripture and even nature. Why? For the sake of money.
