In Me Dwelleth No Good Thing (Romans 7:18)

Truth is truth and that is a fact relevant to all subjects of the kingdom, but especially
true of unbelievers. There is none righteous no not one and all have sinned and
come short of the glory of God. We do not do good even when we want to because
there is in everyone a dual person, part physical and part spiritual, the physical is
selfish and self-centered while the spiritual minded is generous and gracious. Part
believes and wishes to obey and part is rebellious. We can delight in the law of God
through our inward man, while at the same time we can sin because of our fleshly
lusts. We know our wretchedness well, understand the need to be transformed,
comprehend our inability to change, and thank God for Jesus Christ our Savior
(Romans 7:25). He is our enabler, making it possible for us to choose forgiveness
and his will over our own. As our example, he chose his Father’s will instead of life
here so that we might have life there and enjoy the hope and travel here while
imitating him. The law condemned me because of sin, but grace and peace came
through Jesus Christ who chose not to condemn (John 3:17). The struggle is real
every day and one is transformed out of darkness into light each morning and at
every sunrise. Being daily regenerated by fellowship, fellowship with the Father,
the Son, and the Church Family. Those who do not fellowship soon find failure,
frustration, and fracture. They break away and are soon destroyed by following
their carnal nature, which is forever neglecting everything but self. Even when they
know better, they please the flesh rather than serve the Lord. Becoming wretched
instead of righteous they persist in their own judgement instead of trusting in the
Lord and the light of his Word. Wretched for lack of dependence, failure to trust,
and an unwillingness to yield to the goodness of God which leads us to repentance.
Not suddenly, but hopefully sooner than later, and definitely before it is too late.
