Both are given according to our faith (Romans 5) and our peace with God is established by and through our Lord Jesus Christ. So we rejoice in Him because God’s glory is in Him and we are in Him as part of His church (Colossians 1:18). Being in Him may bring, will bring, tribulation that requires perseverance and patience. However, we do not become despondent even though we think upon this, as we hope looking as Abraham did “for a city built by God.” Our love of God is ever enlarged and so our hope is contagious and obvious as a source of inspiration to others. “God is shed abroad in our hearts by The Holy Spirit (which like grace) is given unto us (Romans 5:5).” We did not deserve any favor, but at just the right time Christ died for the ungodly – me! Men have been known to die, one soldier for another, but “God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).” Think on that! He died for such as we are, a people without hope, hopeless and helpless, spiritually depraved. Because of that sacrifice, we are justified in His presence by or because of the shed blood of Jesus. Now we are because of that blood saved from the wrath of God that is coming upon the worldly at their end. How impressed are you at His grace and gifts while we were voluntarily slaves to sin? Can we be less impressed with His goodness, grace, and gifts now as He blesses us with all spiritual blessings that are in Christ Jesus? We are claimed as His children! The life of Christ is our greatest gift because He is risen to give His children eternal life, just as His death gave us freedom from ourselves and sin. We now live imperfectly, but with the Holy Spirit’s leading we are excited while looking up (Hebrews 12:1-29). Our delight is in the law of the Lord as we meditate upon Him both day and night, experiencing continual blessings now. We serve the law of love toward God and each other, forgiving so that we will be forgiven (Matthew 5).
