Do It Now!

Psalm 113 teaches that we should praise the Lord and the title tells us
when. “Do it now” discovers our priorities and guarantees that the task
gets finished. As a people we are inclined, due to Satan’s influence, to put
things off in spite of the Lord’s prompting, but we should not. For the
Lord to encourage us by his Holy Spirit, his Word, or the example of
Christ in our inner most spirit must be an indicator of some importance.
How we can neglect or ignore such a call is nonsense at best and proves
damaging to ourselves and others. Like a flashing light at a railroad gate,
through which only the ignorant pass, we proceed with little or no caution.
We subject ourselves and others to the ‘oncoming’ consequences and
potential destruction every day when instead we might heed the Holy
Spirit, give attention to the message, and enjoy the salvation of our Lord.
Paying attention does have its merit as we all agree, but disobedience we
know extracts tragic results for not only ourselves but even those who
observe. No one who is right thinking enjoys seeing an accident or
experiencing the pain inflicted upon others. So, doing the good which the
Lord excites in our hearts is always a blessing to self first (because of our
correct understanding of a need) and to others who are plagued by that
need. “Let us therefore do good to all men and especially to our fellow
Christians” (Galatians 6:10). The good that you might have done helps no
one. The poetic expression, ‘The saddest words of tongue or pen, alas it
might have been' are destroyed by ‘Do it now!’. You can succeed in this
life and the next by trusting that His grace is sufficient for you in every
event that you may confront. God’s time is now, “Behold now is the
accepted time, now is the day of salvation”. Your lack of activity and mine
are missed opportunities and because we do not go (Matthew 8:18-20).
They are lost. Woah! So are we if we do not go into all the world sowing the seed.
