Quality and quantity of food is important to the well-being of your body. Do you
make it a point to choose nourishing food? Would you be interested in a food that
will feed you for the rest of your life, rather than just keep you going for a few
hours? In John chapter six, Jesus fed five thousand men, not including the women
and children who were present. Therefore, it is safe to say that the number, five
thousand, is shy of how many people were actually fed. These people ate until they
were filled. Jesus must have made good food, very tasty, if not they would not have
stuffed themselves. Even so, this is not the food that Jesus really wanted to feed
them. He gave them the bread of life. The food that never goes bad, never spoils,
and never rots. The perfect food that fills you completely. God’s word! God’s word
comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. John 6:33 states that we are
supposed to be feeding off of God. He gives us the proper food to digest and to
grow into strong Christian soldiers for Him. It is amusing to think about this for a
little while. If we do compare God’s word with our earthly food, we notice that
when we eat, it can take certain things a little longer to digest than others. When we
do open the bible to read it, there will be some things that will take us longer to
understand than others. Maybe we just didn’t swallow it right the first time. The
Word may take days, months, or years to understand. Every person is different and
not one is the same as another. Some people may be able to understand the bible
well, while for others it takes more time. Another possibility is that one may be
getting more food than the other and therefore is ‘healthier’. Spend time reading,
studying, and praying for discernment over God’s Word. Do not only feed yourself
with earthly food which passes away. Instead, feed your whole body, mind, and
soul for eternal life. The more you feed yourself God’s love, grace, and mercy; the
more you will truly be filled. You will also be able to give unto others as you have
been given. People around you will notice the change and it will inspire them to
‘get healthy’. Eat of the bread of life. Eat and be FILLED!
